Coronavirus (COVID-19) information
We understand that you are excited about going to Africa for an unforgettable safari adventure. And due to the coronavirus pandemic, your visit was never more welcome and needed than it is now. The national parks, their wildlife and the people working in the safari industry rely heavily on the money brought by adventurers, like yourself, who come to experience Africa’s wonders first hand.
But before packing your binoculars and camera we recommend that you read up on the latest developments in the safari country you are planning to visit. Below we have included a list of websites that contain the most important information, as well as financial security tips for booking a safari.
Passengers must have a negative COVID‑19 PCR test done within 72 hours before departure from the first embarkation point. The 72 hours start when the sample is collected, and passengers must not display any signs or symptoms of any infectious disease before boarding.
The COVID‑19 PCR test must be taken at a laboratory approved by the country where the passenger’s journey starts.
A passenger who shows signs and symptoms of an infectious disease on arrival will be taken to an isolation centre.
If a passenger tests positive for COVID‑19 he/she will be taken to a COVID‑19 treatment centre, or repatriated for treatment outside Uganda at their own cost following COVID‑19 medical evacuation procedures.
Parents/legal guardians who are travelling with a child between the age of 3 and 12 need to present a negative COVID‑19 PCR test result. Babies/infants 3 years and below are allowed to travel without a COVID‑19 PCR test as long as the legal guardians/parents carry a negative COVID‑19 PCR test result.
The COVID‑19 PCR requirement also applies to vaccinated passengers.
Passengers travelling from India
Passengers travelling from India are required to have a negative COVID‑19 PCR test done 72 hours prior to travel, and they will be subjected to mandatory PCR testing upon arrival irrespective of the vaccination status, at their own cost.
As per the directive from the Civil Aviation Authority & local Ministry of Health, all passengers travelling from Uganda through Entebbe International Airport (EIA) must have a valid negative COVID‑19 PCR test certificate issued within 72 hours from the time of sample collection to boarding the aircraft.
Passengers must comply with all the requirements of their destination country, including shorter validity periods for the PCR test.
All COVID‑19 PCR test certificates for departing passengers must indicate ‘Travel’ as the intended purpose of the test.
Passengers travelling to or transiting through Dubai must undergo PCR testing at accredited Ministry of Health facilities regardless of their vaccination status.
For departing passengers who are required to take a COVID‑19 PCR test before departure, the test can be done at these approved testing facilities
